Vestax PMC CX Carl Cox Mixer - An Introduction

Vestax PNC CX Carl Cox Mixer

For my first post in this series I’ve been thinking long and hard about what product to kick things off with. With such a wealth of stunning products released over the years that still now have a cult status I had to pick something truly special.

Enter the Vestax PMC CX Carl Cox Mixer….

Design And Materials

The PMC CX Carl Cox DJ Mixer was first introduced by Vestax in 2003 and quickly became a favourite among DJs worldwide. This mixer was designed in collaboration with Carl Cox, the renowned British DJ and producer. Mr. Cox allegedly had very specific ideas about what he wanted in a mixer and this resulted in him having a lot of input in the design. The result was a top-of-the-line mixer that was both stylish (gorgeous really) and functional, featuring state-of-the-art audio circuitry and a user-friendly interface.

The mixer was constructed with high-quality materials, including a durable aluminium 19” rack mixer style body that was designed to withstand the rigours of life on the road. The mixer also featured uniquely smooth crossfaders that were designed to allow DJs to mix seamlessly between tracks, and a comprehensive EQ section that enabled them to fine-tune their sound to perfection.

One of the most notable features of the PMC CX Carl Cox DJ Mixer was its advanced audio circuitry, which was designed to deliver unparalleled sound quality. The mixer also featured a high quality effects section, that gave the DJ use of hi-pass/low-pass and all pass filters on each channel or all channels. Other features included 3 band isolators, a master out isolator section with anti phase and matrix input control and what was at the time considered the best 60mm faders on a mixer in the market. The mixer had a very classic look with analogue VU meters, oversized switches, buttons and knobs and the classic red coloured oversized isolator EQ knobs that the mixer is known for.

Release & Reception

When it was released, the PMC CX Carl Cox DJ Mixer was aimed primarily at professional DJs who demanded the best sound quality and features from their equipment. The mixer was priced at around $1,500, which made it a premium product, but one that was well worth the investment for serious DJs.

The reception of the PMC CX Carl Cox DJ Mixer was overwhelmingly positive, with reviewers and DJs alike praising its design, build quality, and sound. Many noted that the mixer was intuitive to use and allowed them to create seamless mixes with ease. Others praised the mixer's audio quality, stating that it was one of the best-sounding mixers they had ever used.

Vestax promoted the PMC CX Carl Cox DJ Mixer heavily when it was released, with advertisements appearing in DJ magazines and online forums. The company also sponsored a number of high-profile DJs, including Carl Cox himself, who used the mixer in his live performances. These marketing efforts helped to build the brand and establish the PMC CX Carl Cox DJ Mixer as a must-have product for serious DJs.

Today, the PMC CX Carl Cox DJ Mixer is considered a classic DJ product and is highly sought after by DJs and collectors alike. This mixer comes up on forums, discussion boards and Facebook groups regularly. While it may no longer be available for purchase new, it is still possible to find used models online on sites such as Ebay and Reverb as well as Facebook market place. If you're interested in learning more about the PMC CX Carl Cox DJ Mixer, a quick online search will reveal a wealth of information, including reviews, specifications, and pricing information.

Conclusion

So to conclude…. the PMC CX Carl Cox DJ Mixer was a ground breaking product that helped to revolutionise the DJ industry. The mixers high-quality construction, advanced audio circuitry, and intuitive design made it a favourite among professional DJs, while its sleek look and feel helped to establish it as a classic product from the past. Whether you're a serious DJ or just a fan of classic audio equipment, the PMC CX Carl Cox DJ Mixer is definitely worth checking out and tracking down for a very special purchase.
